As a strong advocate for equitable, high-quality, and accessible healthcare for all, I am proud to add my voice alongside colleagues from Mary Technology Inc. to amplify awareness of the innovative solutions transforming healthcare delivery in Ghana—particularly for underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
I recently reflected on key insights shared during an interview highlighting these efforts, which can be viewed here:
The Need for Patient-Centred, Technology-Enabled Care
Persistent disparities within our health systems continue to underscore the urgent need for technology-enabled, patient-centred models of care. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), telemedicine, and remote monitoring technologies to improve affordability, accessibility, and efficiency in healthcare delivery is not only timely—it is essential.
Mary Global Health is responding to these challenges by addressing critical bottlenecks within the healthcare system.
How Mary Global Health Is Making an Impact
Through innovative digital health solutions, Mary Global Health is helping to:
Reduce patient waiting times in healthcare facilities
Expand telemedicine services to remote and underserved communities
Deploy digital health tools and sensor-based technologies that support early detection, continuity of care, and timely clinical decision-making
These interventions are designed to strengthen primary healthcare delivery while reducing the burden on both patients and healthcare facilities.
A Personal Reflection on Healthcare Access
This reality was reinforced for me through a personal experience. A few years ago, after experiencing acute gastrointestinal discomfort, I sought care at a health facility in the early hours of the morning.
Despite arriving at 4:00 a.m., I was attended to only two hours later, followed by additional referrals for laboratory tests and pharmacy services. By the time initial treatment had taken effect, the prospect of spending several more hours navigating the system—along with the added transportation and out-of-pocket costs—was simply not feasible.
Had I been aware of Mary Global Health’s services at the time, I could have accessed a virtual consultation within minutes from the comfort of my home, significantly reducing both time and financial burden.

Looking Ahead
As we move forward, it is critical that we continue to champion digital health innovations, strengthen primary healthcare delivery, and work collectively toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Ghana and beyond.
Together, technology and patient-centred care can redefine healthcare access and outcomes for millions.
